I don’t like to be the bringer of doom and gloom but this infographic shows a number of statistics highlighting the shocking state of the current financial climate.
It’d be an understatement to say that times are tough but a few standout points from the infographic are:
- 54% list the ‘economic climate’ as their biggest challenge
- 28% of business owners view their ‘competition’ as one of their main business problems
- People in business alone have seen the largest decrease in sales (16%)
Before I get ahead of myself I’ll state something quite obvious. If you’ve got a business and haven’t started building a mailing list then stop reading this post and start putting one together. It’s never to early.
You’ll often find that email marketing offers the path of least resistance if you’ve built a good list – so start with your current clients and put plans together to get email addresses of potential customers.
When the time comes to market your product or service you’ll be surprised at the responses you can get from contacting people that have worked with you before or have previously shown interest.
Social usage within the workplace has increased dramatically, and for some, it’s become the core day-to-day CRM tool.
The infographic below is worth a once over if you’re a bit sceptical about the uptake of social media within business environements.
Our post showing the growth social media (video) makes this infographic not too shocking but there are a few memorable points to take from it:

The fact is, when it comes to gaining strength in the search engines (through SEO) and building an online presence, it’s all about content. It’s not as hard as you might think and you have to remember that everybody is capable of providing unique, useful content.
An important thing to remember is that you need to be optimizing content or else you may not get the SEO benefits of your hard work.
